She created this business as the perfect blend of all her favourite things: animals, people, movement, and the great outdoors. Whether she's leading the team or out on the trail, Alana brings heart, energy, and a whole lot of love to everything she does.

Sam is a lifelong dog lover whose heart led her straight to Hiking Tails - and she’s never looked back. With a deep love for animals and a natural instinct for helping others, Sam brings genuine care, energy, and joy to every walk. For her, it’s more than a job - it’s a dream come true, one wagging tail at a time.
The Heart Behind Hiking Tails: Enzo’s Legacy
The story began in early 2023 with a simple need: finding the perfect dog-walking service for a very special pup named Enzo. For Macaulay, a lifelong dog lover, Enzo wasn’t just a pet—he was family. But after trying several dog walkers, none seemed to offer the level of care, attention, and dedication that Enzo deserved. That’s when Macaulay decided to take matters into his own hands and create something different—something better.
Enter Hiking Tails.
Inspired by his bond with Enzo, Macaulay began building a dog-walking service grounded in love, trust, and a deep understanding of what dogs truly need. Around the same time, he met Alana—and everything started to fall into place.
Animals have always been Alana’s passion. From big to small, scales to fur, she’s dreamed of working with animals for as long as she can remember. But without the right opportunity, that dream had to be put on hold—until she crossed paths with Macaulay and his idea for Hiking Tails. Instantly, she knew it was the venture she’d been waiting for. Her passion for animals, combined with her heart for helping people, finally had a place to thrive.
Together, Macaulay and Alana worked tirelessly to bring something new and meaningful to Aberdeen. They built Hiking Tails from the ground up, with a shared vision to provide a service that was more than just dog-walking - it was about creating joy, connection, and a sense of family for every pup that joined their pack.
From the moment they opened their doors, Enzo proudly stepped into his new role. He greeted every dog with a wagging tail, ready to lead the way on countless adventures. It didn’t take long for him to become the “Head of the Pack,” making sure each new dog felt welcomed, safe, and excited for what was ahead.
Enzo was more than just the inspiration—he was the heartbeat of Hiking Tails. Even while facing ongoing health challenges, his spirit never wavered. Playful, resilient, and full of life, he taught everyone around him the true meaning of loyalty and love. Through him, Macaulay and Alana found their mission: to create a service that treats every dog like family.
In February 2024, they said goodbye to the sweet boy as he crossed the rainbow bridge. It was a heart breaking farewell, but his legacy continues to guide them every step of the way. Hiking Tails believes Enzo is still out there, watching over the pack, keeping everyone in line, and making sure every day is filled with tail wags and adventure.
Hiking Tails exists because of the love Macaulay had for Enzo - and now, because of Alana’s lifelong dream finally finding its place. Today, Alana and every dog that joins Hiking Tails are living that dream together, one hike at a time.
